The exploration of the urban-rural divide created a huge gap on educational attainment within rural areas despite 1:5 US students attend a rural classroom. Rural Teach was conceptualized on the promise of unlocking student potential through the investment of rural educators.

The Brief
Rural schools face persistent teacher retention challenges, limiting access to consistent, high-quality education and long-term impact on student outcomes.
After researching mitigating factors, we designed a centralized resource platform that empowers rural educators with professional development tools.
The Decisions
Teachers are the multiplier
While there is limited access in rural communities, access to information alone doesn’t improve outcomes. Empowering educators with the right tools and resources creates a downstream impact on student success than targeting students alone.
Support the whole educator, not just the profession
Rural environments offer limitations compared to urban areas, so supporting both professional growth and personal well-being encourages a stronger incentive for educators to build long-term commitment in rural communities.
Opportunities for peer-to-peer learnings
Many rural educators struggle with combined-grade classrooms which pose unique challenges generic resources cannot address. Having a space for rural educators to come together enriches classrooms with practical strategies learned from shared experiences.
The Outcome
Designed a basic minimum viable product (MVP) of the platform for rural educators that features career development, community forums, wellbeing resources, and a home dashboard. The monetization strategy aims to target school boards to opt-in memberships for educators and build a customized dashboard for the school.
